The best out of all the films, and the best out of all the books!  This will be  a  tough act to follow after this.

It’s movie time…

It’s also the time of year for it!  Last night as I was organizing DVD’s left out by the rest of the family members, I decided to watch one I hadn’t seen…Sahara.  A good one for a late Saturday night…No comments here really except that it got me through the night!

Today 1.20pm at the Paramount was Serenity.  I would summer_cast2.jpgwatch it again!  Great story line, Action science-fiction.  Kick-ass action.  I’ll have to do a little reading on the television series which never made it.  Don’t know why?  I heard the network played a lot with the schedule.  Lot’s of politics, genre Star-Wars or even Lord of the Rings(according to Our son).  River Tam aka Summer Glau has a mysterious character which is just as interesting to discover as the plot to the movie.

Her Aggression is triggered by a transmitted video clip by the alliance while they are paying off their last theft in a bar.  At this point River and her brother, the doctor, are really off the crew.  When the captain observes her, he decides to bring her back to the ship.  The choreography in this fight scene in unbelievable.  As he did with Buffy, Joss Whedon creates another female hero.

Proper review:  From IMdb

The crew of the Serenity is getting desperate. They have lain lower and lower to protect their doctor, Simon Tam (Sean Maher), and his telepathic traumatized little sister, River (Summer Glau), from the alliance, whom he rescued her from a year earlier. This has made getting jobs harder and now they are desperate. When they take River on a robbery during which Reavers (humans who have gone crazy and turned into cannibals) attack, Simon decides that its time to leave the crew of the Serenity for his and River’s safety. She then mutters "Miranda" and goes berserk and nearly shoots Capt. Malcolm Reynolds (Nathan Fillion), until her brother says the safety word to put her to sleep. Reynolds decides to take them back on board for safety, only now an alliance operative (Chiwetel Ejiofor) is on their tracks and making Reynolds determined to find out what "Miranda" is and what the Alliance is hiding.

Land of the dead

Movie Comments:

As I mentionned in yesterday’s entry, this was a parental dutie. Our son, DS, gave me the DVD Dawn of the Dead last Christmas it was difficult to turn down an invitation to Land of the dead. But I tried. I figure if I could deffer it for a few weeks it would come out on DVD in a month or so. There are so many good movies out there right now like Fantastic 4, or Batman Begins or again War of the world.

It’s pissing rain all day today, so we were going to the movies. Itried to have him phone a buddy that may be interested. No go. Either not available or not allowed or not interested.

We parked under place Ville Marie, $7.00, caught the shpw at the Eaton’s Centre, $6.95 each plus tax, so $16.05 and had 2 Grape Kool-Aids 1 bag of Mint Bytes and 2 Chips for $18.50.
For a grand total of $41.50

As we sat down to watch the previews there were at least 5 commercials first. 2 foreign beers, 1 for Mustang and 2 others I don’t remember. I wonder who gets the revenue for those. I hope the cinema does. I still find it insulting.

Dennis Hopper: starred in this… It is his type of Movie isn’t it!
The review from upcominghorrormovies.com goes like this:

In the film, the zombies having taken over the world and those left alive are confined to a walled-in city that keeps out the corpse corps. Anarchy rules the streets, with the wealthy insulated and living in fortified skyscrapers. The drama revolves around a group of scavengers who must thwart an attempt to overthrow the city while the dead are evolving from brainless slow-moving creatures into more advanced creatures.

All in all, time well spent with DS, that’s why we do these things. Just like painting the back deck. The sun is back on today so starring 3.00 o’clock that’ where we’ll be!
